Bruny Island - Info

To get to Bruny Island on your own, you will have to drive. Ferry's leave from Kettering, which is about 45 minutes drive south-west from Hobart.

Bruny is definately worth a visit, but is one of those places that many people miss out on because they dont allow enough time to tour Tassie! Bruny Island is a fantastic mix of beautiful beaches, towering sea cliffs (over 200 metres high), rugged mountainous range, quiet retreats and unique flors/fauna. Great photo opportunities abound.

One thing to mention is that Bruny Island is serviced by (90%) dirt roads. Although they are well-maintained, it can be very wearing on the driver and the car. Make sure your car can handle the extra work and rattling, and you have any loose teeth fixed before you go.

If you have time in Tassie, definately visit Bruny Island. The 'Fluted Cape' walk is amazing, and takes about 4 hours to see some spectacular sea cliffs and unique rock formations, walking from sea level to 260metres and back. If you are hiring a car, make sure your insurance covers you on dirt roads!
